Beijing

Beijing located in north part of China, is the capital of the People’s Republic of China, and one of the most populous capital cities in the world with its leading role in culture, diplomacy, science and technology, etc. Combining both modern and traditional architecture, Beijing is one of the oldest cities in the world, with a rich history dating back three millennia. 

Beijing is renowned for its opulent palaces, temples, parks, gardens, tombs, walls and gates. It has seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites-the Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven, Summer Palace, Ming Tombs, parts of the Great Wall and the Grand Canal. Its unique housing style- Siheyuans and Hutongs are the most traditional tourist attractions. In 2020, Beijing was named as City of Design and became part of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network.

Peking Opera is a traditional form of Chinese theater well known throughout the nation which is performed through a combination of songs, spoken dialogue, and codified action sequences involving gestures, movement, fighting and acrobatics.

Beijing cuisine is the local style of cooking. Peking Roast Duck is the most best-known dish. Fuling Jiabing, a traditional Beijing snack food, is a pancake (bing) resembling a flat disk with a filling made from fu ling, a fungus used in traditional Chines medicine. Teahouses are common in Beijing.
